The sound of bagpipes evokes strong emotions: the eerie sound drifting over misty
hills, memories of parades and parties, and fond recollections of loved ones who
have passed. Everyone has their unique memories of this traditional instrument.
With over 25 years experience, I would love to help you create your own memories
with the amazing sound of the great Highland Bagpipe. From weddings to parties to
funerals or corporate events, let me add that something special to your event.

About

I fell in love with bagpipes at the age of five when my grandfather took me to my
first Highland Games in the mountains of Colorado. I sat at the Highland Dance tent
all-day and listened to the pipes as the dancers flew over crossed broadswords. That
memory stayed with me throughout my childhood and by the time I was nine, I
pestered my mom to find me a bagpipe instructor until we found a youth pipe band
(the Colorado Youth Pipe Band) that would take on enthusiastic kids like me. I
quickly became fully engrossed in the band and all things Scottish, performing in
parades and special events and competing at every Highland Games in our region. In
2000, we traveled to Scotland to compete in the World Bagpipe Band
Championships. There, we performed at Sterling Castle, competed at several
highland games, and placed 11 th in the World Championships for our age division.

Not only did I take an active role in our band, I began my own solo career as well,
playing at weddings, parties, and funerals. When my family moved to a small East
Coast town of Osterville, MA, I quickly became a fixture everyone knew. I continued
booking private events, but I also became the Village piper playing at the annual
Christmas Strolls, Summer Village Day Parade, 4 th of July Parade, dedication of town
statues and the swearing in of government officials. Of course, my favorite place to
just go and play was the beach right down the street from my house. There is
nothing like playing at twilight with the smell of salt air and watching people walk
the beach. In college, I appropriately became the resident bagpiper for Homecoming,
our Fighting Scotts sports teams, and played for the commencement ceremonies.

My husband (who coincidentally is from Scotland!) and I have now settled in Austin,
Texas with our two children. I have become our local Fire Department’s bagpiper,
playing at their pinning ceremonies and teaching a few of the guys to play the pipes.
My dream now is to bring the joy of the bagpipes to our town and surrounding areas.
